Why Me?

Hello, and welcome to my web site. My name is Myles Brett.

Cooking is my passion and has been so from an early age – people often commented on my talent when I was growing up – it shows in my creations.

I am a qualified chef and have a lot of experience as a Sous Chef, at times filling in for the Head Chef.

I am a “big picture” person and recognise the importance of every aspect of the provision of food to patrons; hence I focus, plan and take action.

After an Apprenticeship in Commercial Cookery, I gained experience working in a variety of places over the years, including hotel restaurants (up to 4 star), clubs, pubs & hotels, a large busy cafe and private functions.

Currently I am expanding and developing my career. I am looking for a Sous Chef or Head Chef position in a restaurant, hotel, or resort, in the Brisbane (CBD, south west, west, south) or Ipswich regions. My abilities are above average and I am a proactive, dynamic, “can do” person – a good team member, able to lead where necessary.

I understand the importance of looking after customers properly and derive great satisfaction from happy patrons.

I am reliable, healthy, hardly ever sick, keep fit and don’t smoke.

Since creating my website, my current employer found out about my plans to leave and the Head Chef reacted by asking me repeatedly what he could do to get me to stay. Unfortunately, a key issue for me is the amount of driving I am having to do down to Robina and back every day – about 70 minutes each way.

The operations manager of  the hotel group I  work for has described me as “the backbone of the kitchen”.

An Australian citizen, I was born in 1972 in Queensland and my interests include: Golf, Cricket and Surfing.
